Accreditation History
Bachelor of Theology (B.Th)
After 15 years of supervision, the Myanmar Institute of Theology recognized that TCC had developed the capacity to operate independently and encouraged the College to apply for membership and accreditation with the Association for Theological Education in Southeast Asia (ATESEA). This granted TCC autonomous status, allowing it to confer accredited degrees independently. MIT officially released TCC from its affiliation in the 2014–2015 academic year.
Following this transition, TCC formally applied for ATESEA membership in 2015. On 28 April 2015, an ocular visit was conducted by a team led by:
- Dr. Limuel Equina – Executive Director, ATESEA
- Dr. Samuel Ngun Ling – ATESEA Board member, MIT Principal
- Dr. Lal Tin Hre – Executive Secretary, ATEM
The ATESEA Board (Resolution 2015-38) decided to place TCC’s accreditation application on hold for two years pending fulfillment of two key requirements:
- Increase student enrollment to demonstrate institutional viability
- Enhance the library collection with updated books and academic resources
TCC worked diligently to meet the requirements and reapplied. A special visit was conducted on 18 December 2019 by the accreditation team, including:
- Dr. Limuel Equina – Executive Director, ATESEA
- Dr. H.E. Wilson – Director, FTESEA
- Sheila Tipon – Finance and Administrative Staff, ATESEA
- Rev. Dr. Lal Tin Hre – Executive Secretary, ATEM
- Syama Mie Mie Htoo – Librarian, Ko Thabyu
- Syama Nwe Ni Hla – Associate Librarian, MIT
Recognizing the substantial progress, the ATESEA Board granted TCC membership and accredited its B.Th program in December 2019. This milestone affirms the College’s commitment to academic excellence and its capability to deliver theological education meeting international standards.
Master of Divinity (M.Div)
The Master of Divinity program at Tedim Christian College was launched in the 2017–2018 academic year to meet growing demand for advanced ministerial training in Myanmar. The program aligns with regional and international theological education standards, equipping graduates for pastoral ministry, Christian leadership, and specialized service in both church and society.
Open to applicants with a recognized bachelor’s degree, the M.Div combines rigorous biblical and theological study with practical ministry training and contextual engagement in Myanmar’s multi-ethnic, multi-religious environment. Courses are taught by academically qualified faculty with significant ministry experience, ensuring strong integration of scholarship and practice.
The program addresses the increasing requirement of Myanmar churches for graduate-level qualifications in pastoral and ministry leadership. As of 2019, the M.Div program had not yet sought accreditation, as no graduates had completed the program. In 2025, TCC seeks re-accreditation of its B.Th program and initial accreditation of the M.Div program, affirming its commitment to academic excellence, resource development, and the formation of spiritually mature, contextually responsive leaders.
